The engine and motor, the key factors in hybrid technology education, are mounted on a metal frame. The engine and transmission sections are cut-away. The unit is powered by two sets of 120V electric motors. One motor powers the engine side and the other powers the hybrid motor. The display panel at the rear side of the frame displays the virtual working status, such as the starting, driving status, high load, deceleration control, and HV battery charging.

The mounted engine is a Toyota Prius, which is a parallel type hybrid. It is a combination of a 1.5L gas engine and a motor powered by a Nickel-Hydrogen battery. The power source is selected automatically when (1) starting the motor, (2) driving in normal conditions, and (3) accelerating. As this is a virtual model, the driving status can be simulated by adjusting the rotary switch located in front of the unit.
