Electrochemical Instruments

What certification does HD hold?
HD’s quality control system is recognized by PJR, Inc. (Perry Johnson Registrars), the JAB (Japan Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment), and attained ISO 9001 registration (International Organization for Standardization) in 2001.

Do the HD instruments work with the North American power requirements?
Yes. All instruments are tailor made to work with the 120V and 60Hz electrical requirements in North America.

What current customers use your instruments?
Current HD customers include educational institutions (university departments of science technology and engineering), technical institutes, national and public laboratories, and private enterprises.

What areas of study can I use the HD instruments?
These instruments are ideal for physical electrochemistry, corrosion measurement, voltammetry, coulometry, automatic polarization, electrolysis, fuel cell, biochemistry, and more.

If I need to repair my HD instrument, how long will it take for your engineers to complete the repair?
It depends on the problem of your instrument. In our experience, it takes an average of 2-4 weeks to complete the repair and return it to the customer.

Can I maintain my instrument after the warranty period expires?
Yes! Even after the warranty period, the HD instrument can be maintained at a charge. Contact customer service, toll-free, at 1-800-799-6232 to receive a quote for the specific maintenance request.

What is the warranty period for each product?
The warranty for every HD product is one year after receipt of the product. this warranty covers wear under normal use.

Can the Potentiostat communicate with oscilloscopes or external instruments?
Yes! That is not a problem. On every HD Potentiostats, there are analog outputs for potential and current, and analog inputs for external waveforms and auxiliary signals.

I need a front panel on my Potentiostat. Does your Potentiostat have a front panel?
Yes! The HD Potentiostats have a front panel integrated into the instrument. This permits the immediate measurement of results. Furthermore, you avoid the complication that comes with all the wires to and from a computer. Simply insert this instrument into a power source and you can begin using this fantastic instrument.

Can I easily transport the HD instruments?
Yes. Each unit is compact and weighs on average 8kg. They are portable and will take minimal space in your office, laboratory, or vehicle.

Does your Potentiostat require any special software?
No. Our Potentiostat/Galvanostat does not require any special software. This is an integrated instrument and the results are displayed in digital form on the front panel.

I am looking to download .pdf documents regarding HD products. Where would I do that?
You can find information about our electrochemical instruments in .pdf format here.

The GENECON®

Do you sell a replacement cord for the GENECON®?
If your GENECON® or GENECON®12 cord is damaged or worn out, we sell a replacement cord so that you may continue using the GENECON® / GENECON®12.

Do you have a complete kit using your GENECON®?
Yes. We sell a GENECON® Kit containing accessories to complete 22 hands-on science experiments. The kit also includes the Adventures with the GENECON® manual containing illustrations, procedures, key concepts, and teaching tips for every experiment.

Do you have replacement gears for the GENECON®?
We sell replacement GENECON® gears. They come as a set of three (3) gears (Large, Medium, & Small). The gears are made of plastic.
We also offer a replacement gear set for the GENECON®12. This kit is specifically for the GENECON®12

Is there a manual for the GENECON®?
Yes. We offer a GENECON® manual illustrating 22 hands-on activities in electricity and magnetism.

Can the static high voltage GENECON® generate static electricity in a high humidity environment?
Static electricity is generated unless humidity in the air is extremely high. Since the low humidity of the felt disables the transfer of static electricity between the polyvinyl chloride drum and the felt, breathe on the felt to provide it with moisture especially at low humidity in winter.

How can we handle the operation of the handle wheel of the static high voltage GENECON® when it becomes heavy?
Wipe the drum with ethanol and manually warp the felt sheet several times slowly to make it loose. Note that excessive warpage may deform the felt sheet this time.

How can we deal with the dirt from the felt for the static high voltage GENECON®?
Since it is important that the felt keeps fluffing, dirty felt can be used as is.

We want to replace felt for the Static GENECON®. Please provide instructions for replacement.
Do not replace the felt by yourself. Otherwise the performance of the equipment may deteriorate. In addition, replacement or modification of the product by the customer voids the warranty.

When we tested the Hamilton flywheel for the static high voltage GENECON®, we found that the flywheel did not rotate at all. Why is that happening?
Note that when assembling the support shaft for the flywheel, install them firmly. When the surface of polyvinyl chloride sheet supplied with the equipment is wet, leak current flows (electric leakage). Remove moisture using alcohol or something similar. Place the rotation part on the top end of the support shaft in parallel with the floor in a wobbly condition.

What is a Fuel Cell?
A Fuel Cell is an electrochemical energy conversion device. It produces electricity from external supplies of fuel (on the anode side) and oxidant (on the cathode side). These react in the presence of an electrolyte. Generally, the reactants flow in and reaction products flow out while the electrolyte remains in the cell. Fuel Cells can operate virtually continuously as long as the necessary flows are maintained.
