The experiment apparatus allows the use of familiar green plants and small animals to quantitatively confirm the relationship between photosynthesis and respiration over a short period of time. To set up the experiment, open the lid on the rear of the main unit and pour in a specified quantity of BTB solution (neutral and green-colored) using the accessory syringe. Evenly cover the surface of the unit with the solution. Place the sample organisms or plants inside the unit and close the lid. After the unit has been exposed to sunshine or overhead projector light for several minutes, the color of the BTB solution will change, revealing the generation of carbon dioxide or oxygen as a result of the respiration or photosynthesis.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Main Unit: Acrylic resin, 54 x 88 x 42mm
*Accessories: Supplementary receptacles (set of 3), syringe, aluminum foil (with adhesive)
*Examples of experiments:
1) Green leaves: by blocking the photosynthesis process, carbon dioxide is released
2) Small insects: process of respiration releases carbon dioxide
3) Yeast fungi: process of fermentation generates carbon dioxide
