Using this kit and sprouting seeds, students will be able to differentiate between plant food that is stored as a simple sugar and food which is stored as starch. They will use a step-by-step procedure to dissect seeds, treat them with reagents and determing how much and where the sugar and starch are stored.
The individualized worksheet is complete and provides open-ended questions to encourage students to explore with extra investigations. This lab activity is performed individually and can be completed in a single lab period. The kit contains enough materials for 30 students.
